POSITION OVERVIEW The Director of Finance & Technology is a strategic and hands-on leader overseeing the Museum’s financial operations and technology systems. Reporting to the President and a member of the museum's leadership team, this role ensures fiscal integrity, compliance, and operational excellence. The Director manages budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, tax filings, internal controls, and cash flow, while also providing leadership for IT strategy and infrastructure. The role supervises a team of four finance and IT staff. This is a hybrid eligible job (not fully remote). The annual salary for this role is $140,000. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Strategy & Oversight Lead all financial operations, including accounting, cash management, forecasting, and financial reporting. Develop, analyze, and present budgets, financial statements, and risk assessments to leadership, Finance Committee, and Board. Manage the annual budget process, audit, and tax filings to ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations. Policy, Compliance & Risk Management Establish and maintain financial policies, internal controls, and process improvements to align with best practices. Monitor organizational financial risk and implement strategies to mitigate exposure while supporting long-term sustainability. Strategic Partnership & Stakeholder Relations Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership to align financial planning with strategic goals. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize organizational growth and impact. Act as primary liaison with banks, insurers, auditors, retirement plan vendors, and other business partners. IT Strategy & Operations Guide implementation of the organization’s technology strategy in support of operational and visitor-experience goals. Oversee information systems, cybersecurity, and IT operations to ensure efficiency and security. Supervise team that provides technology support for high quality, multimedia visitor experiences and building systems. Team Leadership & Culture Supervise and develop finance and IT staff while fostering a collaborative, positive workplace culture. Actively engage in cross-departmental initiatives that advance the museum’s mission and strategic objectives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience:

10+ years of progressive experience in financial management, planning, and reporting, with 3+ years in people leadership. CPA or CMA strongly preferred. Nonprofit Expertise:

Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, GAAP compliance, and financial reporting. People & Team Leadership:

Proven success leading and developing finance professionals with ability to lead teams outside of core finance and accounting, including areas like IT, even without direct functional experience. Strategic Leadership:

Proven ability to align financial strategy with organizational goals, deliver financial insights, and present to senior leadership and/or Board committees. Risk & Compliance Focus:

Strong understanding of cash management, internal controls, and risk mitigation strategies. Collaborative Leadership:

Skilled at building relationships, fostering a positive culture, and leading cross-functional initiatives. Adaptability & Hands-On Approach:

Demonstrated success leading or supporting the selection and implementation of financial or operational systems that improved efficiency and organizational effectiveness. Technology Skills:

Knowledge of accounting systems, IT infrastructure, and experience partnering with IT teams to implement process improvements. Operational Excellence:

Resourceful in setting priorities, driving efficiencies, and guiding investments in people, processes, and systems. Adaptability & Initiative:

Self-motivated, flexible and detail-oriented.
