The Association is looking for a strong and highly professional individual capable of anticipating issues and addressing opportunities independently and effectively. This team player will hold the utmost standard of compliance and able to navigate communication styles between executive leaders and public leaders.
Position Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for oversight of all strategic and tactical accounting and financial-related activities of the Washington Association for Community Health.
Essential Functions
Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation. Prepares business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets. Produces periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with GAAP or other financial reporting standards. Maintains full integrity of all revenues, ensuring organization policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations, are followed. Oversees capital assets projects, ensuring organizational goals are being met. Compiles fiscal estimates and prepares fiscal reports as requested. Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit. Ensures compliance with accounting procedures through observation, supervision, and testing. Hire and oversee staff in the finance and accounting department, including giving directions and delivering periodical evaluation. Ensuring that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including taxation, and other legal requirements.

Demonstrated competency in analyzing and interpreting organizational data to support accuracy, quality assurance, and improvement. Federal grant compliance and accounting experience. Ability to lead and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Knowledge, skill, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse variety of people, personalities, lived experiences and opinions. Excellent communication skills, both informal and formal communications, including listening, speaking, writing and facilitation of discussions where diverse opinions exist. Ability to think strategically and deliver technically. Ability to self-direct with a high degree of organization.
Required Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration. 5-7 years’ relevant finance management and leadership.
Preferred Education And Experience
Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Non-profit and government finance including grant funding sourcing.
Additional Requirements
Must possess reliable and dependable transportation.
Work Environment
Working indoors in an office setting. The Association supports hybrid models of work, both in person and remote. The hybrid model requires at least 2 days in the office.
Position Information
FLSA: Full-Time Exempt
Salary Range: $100,389 to $160,622 DOEE This position will likely be paid between $125,000 to $130,000.
Location: Hybrid Olympia, WA
