ERM is seeking a motivated, hands-on Managing Consultant, Environmental Project Manager, Engineer / Geologist to join our growing Liability Portfolio Management & Remediation team in New York, NY. Working under the direction of senior project managers, directors, principal consultants, and partners, the successful candidate will manage site investigation, risk assessment, and remediation projects under CERCLA, RCRA, and state programs across New England, other US regions, and international locations.

Responsibilities include safely executing project work, supervising junior staff, enhancing ERM’s market presence through technical presentations and papers, developing client relationships, and preparing proposals. This position supports career development in leadership, client engagement, and technical consulting, contributing to business growth by delivering value across various industries. Responsibilities: Coordinate projects involving site investigation, utility location, risk assessment, and remediation of soil, groundwater, and sediments, addressing moderate to complex technical and regulatory issues. Plan and oversee field activities such as sampling, drilling, well installation, and assessments (soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion) including high-resolution site characterization and remedial construction and O&M. Implement vapor intrusion investigations and remediation in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. Review and interpret environmental data; develop conceptual site models; identify data gaps; prepare work plans and reports; develop scopes of work, schedules, costs, and health and safety plans under RCRA, CERCLA, and other programs. Utilize new technologies to improve project efficiency and quality, including electronic data collection and reporting. Evaluate remedial options, assist clients with cost-effective closure strategies, and negotiate with regulatory agencies. Delegate tasks, mentor junior staff, and involve technical experts to maximize client value. Prepare proposals, engage in business development, and maintain client relationships to generate repeat business. Build collaborative relationships with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, geology, or related field; Master’s preferred. Professional license (PE, PG) or eligibility to obtain one soon is preferred. 4+ years (5-8 preferred) of progressive project management and technical experience in site investigation/remediation under CERCLA, RCRA, and state programs. Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills; proficiency in environmental data management (EQuIS is a plus). Environmental field experience and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification. Commitment to safety and following health and safety protocols. Valid driver’s license required due to travel to client sites. Ability to multitask, work independently, and adapt to travel and changing priorities. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
