The Waymo Policy and Government Affairs team plays a crucial role in navigating the evolving landscape of autonomous driving, transportation, and tech policy. Our team works with policymakers and third-party groups at all levels to promote transportation policy, educate on safety benefits, and increase consumer awareness and acceptance. Internally, our efforts support engineering, product, strategy, and legal teams. This position is hybrid based in the Washington D.C. area and reports to the Head of Federal Policy and Government Affairs. Responsibilities

Develop and implement federal lobbying strategies to promote Waymo's policy positions, focusing on the executive branch. Build relationships with officials at the U.S. Department of Transportation, the White House, and other federal agencies. Communicate a compelling vision for autonomous driving and Waymo's leadership role, advocating for supportive federal policies. Develop expertise in key policy areas. Manage consultants and engage with trade associations and third parties. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of federal government or government affairs experience, including 4+ years in private sector lobbying of executive agencies. Deep understanding of how major regulatory initiatives are developed and implemented by federal agencies and the White House. Proven lobbying success, including regulatory wins and strong relationships with top officials. Strong relationships with Republican policymakers and key right-of-center stakeholders. Experience with regulation in highly regulated industries. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Willingness to travel approximately 1-2 times per month. Preferred Qualifications

Passion for emerging technology and public policy. Experience building support for complex policies and overcoming political obstacles. Knowledge of autonomous vehicle regulation, AI, cybersecurity, trade policy, and related issues. Ability to understand and explain technical topics and their policy implications. Proactive and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Compensation The base salary range is $204,000—$259,000, depending on location, experience, and skills. Employees are eligible for bonuses, equity, and benefits.
