GM, Head of Startup Incubator, Reservoir Farms (Merced)
Build the Future of On-Farm Testing & Validation for AgTech
The Reservoir
is a new system for specialty crop innovation.
Reservoir Farms
is a nonprofit, on-farm startup incubator that helps agricultural robotics and automation companies develop, test, and scale breakthrough technologies directly in working farm environments. It’s designed to close the gap between promising prototypes and real-world deployment, accelerating solutions to generational challenges in agriculture while supporting inclusive rural economic development. In partnership with Western Growers, Reservoir Farms will on 50+ acres of working farmland in the heart of the Central Valley—serving as a critical proving ground for the next generation of agriculture technologies. We’re hiring a
General Manager / Head of Startup Incubator
to lead day-to-day operations, manage testing infrastructure, and ensure resident startups can rapidly validate, iterate, and de-risk their technologies. This is a foundational role for someone who understands what it takes to go from prototype to production in the field—and wants to help build the most advanced real-world validation site in the U.S. for agricultural robotics and physical AI. What You’ll Lead Startup Operations & Member Success:
Coordinate onboarding, safety training, scheduling, and resource access for incubator members. Serve as the go-to resource for enabling meaningful field testing and iteration cycles. Testing & Validation Infrastructure:
Own the development and day-to-day management of our tech testing environments—robotic test lanes, sensor calibration stations, controlled plots, and simulation overlays. Ensure members can access consistent, high-quality data and field conditions. Simulation & Field Integration:
Support early-stage companies in blending simulated testing with physical deployment. Help members transition from digital twin environments to on-farm pilots. Site Operations & Tooling:
Oversee infrastructure, contract and vendor relationships, shop equipment, and shared-use tools for field robotics, software-enabled hardware, and sensor systems. Maintain operational uptime and readiness of the site. Partnerships & Trials:
Coordinate across our farming partners, AgTech leaders, OEMs, and technical advisors to ensure successful deployments and data collection. Facilitate field trials with members, growers, and sponsors. Who You Are 5+ years experience in AgTech, robotics, precision agriculture, or testing environments for physical systems Deep familiarity with real-world validation processes, from prototype builds to structured trials Technically fluent across software + hardware: robotics platforms, edge computing, ag sensors, field data collection, etc. Comfortable managing physical infrastructure and working alongside engineers, growers, and field crews Bonus: Familiarity with ROS, Gazebo, or other simulation platforms; experience in specialty crops and permanent crops, in particular Spanish/English bilingual preferred What We Offer Leadership role in shaping one of the most high-impact AgTech infrastructure sites in the world Daily exposure to frontier startups and grower networks solving real problems Competitive salary, benefits, and long-term opportunity to grow with The Reservoir network An ambitious, grounded team redefining how innovation happens in agriculture
