Description
Under the supervision of the Head Swim Coach, this position assists with swim team practices and swim meets as needed. Nights and Sundays required.
Must have active Lifeguard Certifications (e.g., YMCA, Red Cross).
Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES :
Provide quality and consistency in all assigned workouts throughout all levels of ability.
Attend meets and practices as needed.
Write and implement workouts for each practice as instructed by the head coach.
Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
Engage in active listening with members to build relationships, understand individual goals and interests, and assist in achieving those goals.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Must be at least 18 years old.
No experience necessary; training to be completed on site. Competitive swimming or coaching experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs at times.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
The noise level is usually moderate to high.
Primarily evening and weekend hours; some weekends may require early morning practices or meets.
Travel to meets and possibly practice sites is necessary.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
REQUIRED TRAINING / CERTIFICATIONS :
Child Abuse Prevention (within first four weeks of employment)
Respect in the Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention)
CPR, First Aid, O2
YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming & Diving
USA Swimming Certification (as required by location)
Safety Training for Coaches or YMCA Lifeguarding
