THE PORTFOLIO COMPANY This portfolio company provides design, engineering, installation, and servicing of fire safety systems, including sprinkler systems, alarms, and inspections. Primarily serves commercial clients such as facilities, healthcare, municipalities, hospitality, multi-family housing, retail, and industrial sectors, predominantly public contracts. The company employs approximately 120 staff across its 21,000 sq ft offices and warehouse facilities. The business has a high customer retention rate of 92% and over 83% of revenue is concentrated in Dallas. THE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM The Private Equity firm pursues buy-and-build strategies targeting services-based businesses, leveraging operational improvements and strategic acquisitions. Known for supporting portfolio leadership while encouraging autonomy, the firm provides strategic input and access to capital for growth initiatives. The sponsor's typical involvement includes milestone check-ins, board participation, and capital support for expansion and integration activities. This role represents the firm’s ongoing commitment to professionalize and grow the platform both organically and through acquisition. THE CULTURE The organization is transitioning from founder-led operations to a professionalized, Private Equity-backed environment. It is hands-on, results-driven, and operates at a fast pace. The CEO is commercially astute, high-energy, and execution-focused, requiring a strategic CFO to partner in structuring operations, driving financial performance, and supporting M&A. The leadership environment emphasizes autonomy, accountability, and strategic thinking, while also requiring adaptability to manage cultural shifts and people change management. VISION What does success look like in this role? Establish financial leadership and build a best-in-class finance function. Drive professionalization across systems, processes, and reporting. Integrate multiple acquisitions and expand geographically. Support the company’s growth to $150M in revenue and $25M in EBITDA. Position the business for a strategic or Private Equity exit. THE ROLE The CFO will be responsible for: Leading financial reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning. Implementing an ERP system and enhancing financial controls. Supporting M&A from due diligence to integration. Partnering with the CEO to drive performance and operational strategy. Leading finance, risk management, IT, and office administration functions. KEY SELLING POINTS OF THE ROLE Work in a $68.5Bn market with high M&A activity and exit potential. Contribute to building a roll-up in a fast-growing, fragmented industry. YOUR BACKGROUND Successful candidates will demonstrate: Experience as CFO or senior finance leader in Private Equity-backed businesses. Proven track record in M&A execution and integration. Expertise in construction or commercial services industries. Strong financial and strategic acumen, including cost accounting and risk management. Comfortable working across blue- and white-collar environments. YOUR CHARACTERISTICS Servant leadership and strong team-building skills. High conscientiousness, self-motivation, and ownership.
