$119,568.00/yr - $161,575.00/yr Direct message the job poster from UMWA Health and Retirement Funds The Senior Manager, Employee and Labor Relations is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing employee relations programs that foster a positive and productive work environment. This role ensures compliance with labor laws, company policies, and best practices while managing workplace issues, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives. The position acts as management’s liaison with the Employee’s Union in matters regarding the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Senior Manager, Employee and Labor Relations will collaborate with HR leadership, managers, and employees to maintain a fair, inclusive, and legally compliant workplace culture. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Other duties may be assigned. Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance and support to employees and management. Conduct thorough investigations into workplace issues, including complaints of harassment, discrimination, and misconduct. Advise managers and employees on conflict resolution strategies to foster a positive and productive work environment. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure consistent and fair handling of employee concerns Assist in negotiation strategies to develop bargaining goals and memorandums of understanding consistent with the Funds mission, vision, and values. Policy Compliance & Legal Adherence Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures. Stay up to date with employment law changes and industry best practices, making recommendations for policy updates. Support risk mitigation efforts by providing training on workplace behavior, ethics, and compliance. Partner with legal counsel as needed to address complex employee relations issues. Performance Management & Employee Engagement: Provide guidance on performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Collaborate with HR leadership to develop strategies that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Facilitate training for managers and employees on workplace policies, communication, and leadership best practices. Analyze employee relations trends and recommend proactive strategies to address workplace challenges. Work closely with HR team and department heads to align employee relations strategies with business goals. Provide coaching and training to managers on effective leadership, communication, and conflict resolution. Assist in developing and implementing employee recognition programs to enhance morale and engagement. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Open INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE Requires knowledge of employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII) EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university preferably in business or human resources. 5+ years of experience in employee relations, human resources, or labor relations, with progressive leadership responsibilities. Experience conducting workplace investigations and handling employee disputes. SKILLS & REASONING ABILITY Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to assess complex employee relations situations. Ability to influence and build trust with employees at all levels of the organization. Experience in mediation, conflict resolution, and policy development. Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools. COMPLETE BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED.
