A Brief Overview The Vice President of Mid-Revenue Cycle is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for the health system's mid-revenue cycle operations across the enterprise. This role involves overseeing strategic planning, leadership, and operations support for Health Information Management, Hospital and Professional Coding Services, Charge Capture procedures, Revenue Integrity, and Clinical Documentation Integrity. This position ensures the most appropriate and optimal revenue, diagnosis, procedure, and quality information capture across all clinical encounters, aligning with compliance and governing regulations. It aims to identify opportunities to improve accurate documentation of clinical encounters and prevent issues causing revenue delays, leakage, and compliance risks. The Vice President collaborates with all Revenue Cycle departments, School of Medicine leadership, Clinical Operations, Managed Care Contracting, Quality, Finance, Legal, and Technology. They are responsible for establishing policies, organizing workflows, leading, developing, evaluating staff, and engaging with all organizational levels to drive outcomes for the mid revenue cycle. Locations Stanford Health Care What You Will Do Develop and implement vision and strategy for mid-revenue cycle operations aligned with organizational goals. Manage performance and measure progress regularly to ensure results. Design and implement policies, workflows, and processes to optimize revenue capture and clinical documentation, acting as a liaison with finance and clinical leaders. Collaborate with clinical leadership to promote accurate documentation in patient care, financial performance, and quality reporting. Develop a multidisciplinary clinical documentation integrity program, analyzing outcomes and communicating best practices. Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, develop partnerships, and coordinate activities related to revenue integrity and improvement initiatives. Establish organizational policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard assets, ensure compliance, and implement effective practices. Lead or facilitate task forces, teams, and councils for program planning and implementation. Set metrics and performance goals for revenue capture, coding, and clinical documentation improvement. Work with Revenue Cycle leadership to define tactical efforts to meet strategic goals. Coordinate with Reporting and Analytics teams to design relevant reports for clinical leaders. Meet regularly with finance and clinical leaders to ensure revenue optimization and compliance. Coordinate with Technology and Digital Solutions for system enhancements. Evaluate external vendors and contracts for cost-effectiveness and performance. Prepare the organization for risk mitigation related to organizational changes. Education Qualifications Master’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution. Experience Qualifications 15 years in healthcare revenue cycle management. 10 years in middle/upper management roles. Recent EPIC system experience in billing and clinical documentation. 5 years coding/nomenclature experience. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strategic thinking, sound judgment, and planning skills. Strong relationship management and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and lead process improvements. Organizational savvy and influencing skills. Proactive relationship building and change management expertise. High emotional intelligence, leadership, and healthcare financial knowledge. Ability to develop long-term strategies and business plans.
