Position Summary – Software Development Engineer in Test II
The Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) will work collaboratively as part of a project team, pairing with developers to create, develop, maintain, and automate test cases, both manually and within the automation framework. This individual must be innovative, self-motivated, and eager to develop new skills while improving existing ones. The role requires problem-solving skills, tool development, and knowledge of hardware and software interoperability. The SDET II is a team player, willing to learn from and educate engineering colleagues on software best practices and the latest technology. Additionally, this role involves integrating new technology into the test infrastructure for automatic tank gauges and cloud-based applications.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Develop test plans to verify and validate automated tank gauge features
Design, develop, and execute software solutions based on test requirements and technical specifications to ensure quality on automated tank gauges and related platforms
Continuously improve the test automation framework
Develop automation execution reports to communicate failed tests and failure points to stakeholders
Integrate automated tests into the build process for continuous integration using frameworks such as Jenkins or Bamboo
Monitor automation processes and communicate failures
Support non-functional testing (stress, performance/load, security) with automation and test data as needed
Review and refactor existing automated tests and enhance automation regression technology to improve quality and efficiency
Communicate test results and highlight potential quality risks
Ensure test automation is traceable to requirements or user stories and achieves high coverage
Collaborate with product managers, development teams, and QA colleagues to understand testing objectives
Function as an integral part of the project team
Collect, analyze, and interpret test metrics
Summarize test data and report findings
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
Experience with test automation frameworks
Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (Java preferred)
Ability to write automated test scripts for APIs, software, and firmware using tools like NUnit, C++, C#, JUnit, TestNG, NodeJS, Java, Python, Selenium
Experience automating WebUI tests with Selenium
Good knowledge of Linux and Windows OS
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Travis
Experience with version control systems like svn and git
Senior project team experience and familiarity with Agile, TDD, or BDD methodologies
Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
Ability to collaborate across functions and work well in teams
Additional UI automation experience (e.g., QT)
Linux scripting skills (bash)

Work ethic and ability to work independently and in teams, managing priorities in a dynamic environment
Hardware configuration and troubleshooting experience a plus
Experience with single-board computers (e.g., Beagle Bone, Raspberry Pi) a plus
Experience with TestNG assertions
TDD/BDD experience
Electronics fundamentals
Ability to guide SDET initiatives or serve as QA lead
