Hybrid/Remote, offices in Augusta & New Gloucester About the Role The Finance Director will be a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting, leadership, and interpersonal skills. They will be responsible for performing responsible and complex work involving the creation and maintenance of financial and statistical records, protecting and maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, supervising the Operations Director and other front office staff, and the direct support of the Executive Director. This role demands a candidate committed to mission driven work and requires strong organizational and multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in office software applications. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of autonomously managing office operations, adeptness in prioritization and adaptability to shifting demands while ensuring key tasks are promptly addressed and resolved. Key Responsibilities of the Finance Director · Ensure proper accounting procedures are established and followed by staff so as to ensure compliance with routine reporting and internal control procedures. · Timely preparation and submission of all internal and external reporting requirements, including but not limited to monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements to the Executive Director, quarterly and year end state and, and other necessary reports to funders. · Manage and oversee all cash management, accounts payable and accounts receivable. · Ensure agency financial records are properly maintained and suitable to meet audit standards, establish and maintain suitable filing systems, prepare for and assist with annual independent audit. · Assist in the development of the agency budget, provide ongoing budget analysis, monitor expenditures as related to program priorities, communicate with program directors regarding program budgets. · Act as immediate contact with internal and external, state and federal field auditors and compliance officers, to ensure efficient and accurate audits of agency financial records. Maintain good working relationships with all of the above-mentioned state and federal persons. · Engage in grants management and financial analysis as requested, including compliance, cash drawdowns, and monthly program expenditure analysis. · Oversee employee 401k contributions, ensure that 401k disclosures are properly dispersed, prepare and submit annual 401k audit report. Administrative: · Research, advise and counsel ED regarding information on human resource management, practices and policies including outreach, recruitment, training and development, evaluation techniques, compensation/benefits analysis. · Engage in ongoing analysis of front office procedures, assist support staff in developing mutually agreed upon operational models geared toward efficiency, and assess support staff strengths toward new assignments of workload. · Supervise, support, and evaluate the Operations Director and other front-office staff. · Manage and or supervise all matters related to office. Oversee maintenance of files, secure services and products from outside sources such as insurance, equipment, office supplies, furniture and support services. Handle all service contracts for office equipment. · Manage agency insurance coverage. · Continual development and management of internal control systems, review and update of accounting procedures manual. Qualifications A high school diploma plus five years of performing accounting functions and providing leadership in a professional setting. Previous financial leadership experience within a nonprofit organization. Demonstrated IT understanding and administrative skills. Demonstrated ability to draft correspondence and basic business documents. Basic Project Management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work regular eight to five office hours.
