About the role Reporting directly to the Kägwerks President, the Director - Business Development – Army will drive sales strategy and execution to meet and exceed ambitious growth targets. This dynamic leadership role is centred around fostering strong, long-term customer relationships and coordinating sales activities to unlock new business opportunities. The Director will spend most of their time engaging directly with customers, managing key accounts, and building trust that develops and fosters business partnerships. With a strong grasp of our product suite, this individual will confidently discuss technical details and collaborate seamlessly with our Solutions Team and Customer Support Hub to generate accurate quotes and deliver top-tier service Core elements will include: • Lead and execute business development strategies focused on Army soldier systems and tactical communications programs. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Army acquisition community, including Program Executive Offices (PEOs) such as PM Tactical Radios (PM TR). • Drive growth opportunities aligned with Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiatives, ensuring Kägwerks’ solutions support multi-domain operational requirements. • Identify, pursue, and secure new contracts and partnership opportunities within soldier systems and battlefield communications portfolios. • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, capture, and contracts—to align proposals with customer needs and program goals. • Represent Kagwerks at industry and government events, advocating for company capabilities in advanced soldier and tactical radio systems. • Provide leadership and mentorship to business development staff, fostering a high-performance, customer-focused culture About You The ideal candidate will bring connectivity and credibility within the U.S. Army ecosystem, along with a deep understanding of Army modernization initiatives and operational requirements—such as those led by PEO C3T, PEO Soldier, or Army Futures Command—is highly desirable. You will have a proven ability to navigate Army acquisition programs, requirements generation, and funding cycles, ideally having worked directly with Army Program Offices, Operational Units, and relevant stakeholders across the Army’s acquisition and end-user communities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a high degree of technical, commercial, and strategic awareness, will underpin your success in this role. You will be adaptable in your approach, able to shift between strategic account development and hands-on tactical engagement. As a self-starter, you thrive with minimal supervision and are comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments. A relevant technical or business degree is preferred; however, equivalent experience in Army-focused business development or defence technology sales will also be considered. This role requires frequent travel across North America to engage with Army stakeholders and partners. The ability to obtain (or currently hold) a U.S. security clearance is required. While Kägwerks supports flexible working arrangements, the collaborative and high-engagement nature of this role means it will be primarily based at our Ashburn, VA facility.
