Position Overview
The Montgomery County Prosecutor will accept applications for the position of Chief of the Juvenile Division. The Juvenile Division handles the prosecution of all offenses committed by people under the age of 18, including motions to transfer to adult court. The division also prosecutes adults for misdemeanor criminal charges involving the abuse or neglect of children.
The Child Protection Unit, which represents the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services – Children Services Division on civil cases of child abuse, neglect and dependency, is also included in the Juvenile Division.
Summary Of Job Duties
A Juvenile Division Chief oversees the operations and staff within a juvenile justice or probation department. This involves managing staff, developing and implementing programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with other agencies. They play a key role in community safety, delinquency prevention, and the rehabilitation of young offenders.
Minimum Qualifications And Requirements
Candidates should have prior criminal and/or juvenile experience, possess a strong academic record, good writing and oral communication skills, and be a member of the Ohio Bar. This position is full-time; no private practice is allowed. Starting salary would be commensurate with experience; compensation will include full benefits, including OPERS.

Part-time Employees (Non-Benefits Eligible) (20 hours or less per week): Benefits include Long Term Sick Leave Accrual, Paid Personal Leave, and holiday pay for hours scheduled to work on holidays.
Seasonal Employees: Benefits include Sick Leave accrued at 4.6 hours for every eighty 80 hours in active
pay status. Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees and can use their vacation after completion of twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status. Part-time Seasonal employees (scheduled to work less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.
Intermittent and Temporary Employees: Long-Term Sick Leave accrual is based on hours worked.
