Appointment: Full-Time (12 months)
Status: Exempt
The Program Director is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position within the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Development. The position reports to the Division’s Executive Director. This is an extraordinary career opportunity for an individual with a talent for designing, coordinating, and implementing non-credit educational opportunities for adults.
For nearly 70 years, Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) has connected Bradley University with the greater Peoria community through non-credit educational programs and services for youth, professionals, and lifelong learners. The Division works with Bradley’s academic colleges, departments, and units to support their educational outreach goals.
The Program Director works with local business owners and community leaders, external customers, Bradley University staff and faculty, and members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Bradley (OLLI). The majority of the Program Director’s work focuses on designing and administering educational experiences for OLLI, overseeing OLLI’s social media presence and outreach efforts, and coordinating special events throughout the year.
Specifically, The Program Director Will
Collaborate with volunteers, community partners, and staff to design enriching, non-credit programs and special events that align with OLLI’s mission and audience interests. Manage program budgets to ensure travel experiences are both high-quality and cost-effective. Recruit and guide volunteers in developing program ideas, managing logistics, and enhancing participant experiences. Support fundraising and donor engagement activities by assisting the Executive Director and Associate Director with projects that advance division priorities. Lead marketing and outreach efforts, including newsletters, social media content, and collaboration with internal and external partners. Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in person, adapting messages for different audiences and ensuring clarity and accuracy in all materials. Assist the Executive Director and Associate Director with special projects, strategic initiatives, and daily operations. Conduct needs assessments and gather feedback to evaluate and improve program offerings. Provide direction to administrative staff to ensure clear, accurate communication of program details to participants.
Specific Requirements Include
Bachelor’s degree required Drive a 14-passenger shuttle and/or a multiple passenger van as a host for OLLI trips and events; no special license is required other than passing a simple physical (cost covered by Division). Able to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekends Able to travel domestically, which may include overnight and multi-day tours Able/willing to travel internationally (must possess/acquire passport) Demonstrated effectiveness in event management, budgeting, and program planning Experience in providing support or service in a customer-facing role Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision Outstanding organizational skills, exceptional attention to details, and excellent problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal skills including integrity, reliability, and credibility Proven ability to collaborate and lead small teams, external stakeholders, and volunteers Demonstrated excellence in writing and content editing Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort in learning/using other digital tools as needed Demonstrated respect and sensitivity for cultural and age diversity
Preferred Qualifications
Background in education, adult learning, or continuing education Experience working with volunteers in a leadership or coordination capacity Familiarity with non-credit educational programming, including delivery for lifelong learners Experience with basic marketing and outreach activities
