Job Summary The Girl’s Volleyball Head Coach is responsible for various aspects of the volleyball program, such as recruiting within the school, training/participating in competitions, and coaching team members. The Girl’s Volleyball Coach must abide by MCSAO/MIAA rules and regulations as well as those set by the Codman Academy District Board and athletic administration.

Minimum Qualifications

1-3 years of coaching volleyball at the high school level (head coaching experience preferred).

Effective coaching knowledge, techniques, and skills.

Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of volleyball.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, governing organizations, opponents, staff, parents, and students.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practices to promote growth in skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.

Use instructional techniques and media to meet student-athletes' needs.

Coordinate sport development and promotion.

Organize tryouts and preseason meetings.

Collaborate with staff to plan educational and athletic goals.

Develop practice schedules for individual and team development.

Apply student discipline during contests and practices.

Encourage behaviors aligned with Codman’s Habits of Scholarship.

Protect students, equipment, and facilities, including anti-hazing/bullying measures.

Maintain and secure equipment and uniforms.

Assist with college recruitment for student-athletes.

Participate in school events like senior nights and award ceremonies.

Follow procedures for athlete injuries.

Represent the school professionally and uphold non-discriminatory practices.

Attend professional development meetings and clinics.

Additional Skills Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to relate to students, teach effectively, and accept accountability is required. Ability to assess players and coaches is also necessary.

Season runs from August to October 2025.
