POSITION SUMMARY:

The Principal Engineer is responsible for engineering tasks involved in the product design and development of advanced products for the GCX Corporation’s product portfolio. The Principal Engineer is resourceful and collaborative in a cross functional team environment and assists the global manufacturing team with resolving manufacturing issues with complex products. This role confers with other engineers and cross functional team members to implement operating procedures, resolve design and development issues, and provide technical expertise. The Principal Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of new product development, including performing static and dynamic FEA simulation on various levels (i.e. assembly systems, sub-systems and components), developing test protocols, and creating engineering documentation.

The Principal Engineer must be able to analyze and process customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, implementation and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Considered a company leader in design and new product development activities, this position works closely with marketing, sales, and customers defining product concepts and requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conceptualizes, develops, verifies and Validates product designs and engineering solutions that meet defined user needs, address customer complaints and corrective actions, and reduce costs. Develop project plans and assist with design input definition. Prepares project timelines and ensure projects are kept within scope, time and cost. Keep internal and external customers informed of project status. Collaborates with external customers and commercial team developing requirements and presenting solution proposals. Maintains interaction with other departments to solicit and distribute information. Recommends and participates in functional training to advance technical capabilities and stays current with manufacturing and engineering methods. Mentors and trains junior Engineers including directing their work on to support overall project success. Provides technical problem-solving expertise to diverse functions including marketing, sales, manufacturing, quality, and customer support. Performs other related duties and assignments support engineering team processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BS/MS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 10 + years’ product development and design transfer experience. Project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience. Ability to perform complex FEA analysis. Proficient in Injection molding, extrusion, sheet metal, and casting design. Proficient in SolidWorks and PDM systems. PTC Creo a plus. Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Office, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) software.
