Special Olympics Alaska provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. Job Responsibilities : The Community Programs Manager shall be directly responsible and accountable to the VP / COO and President / CEO of Special Olympics Alaska Inc.The Community Programs Manger responsibilities consist of overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Special Olympics Alaska Community Programs to include budget, volunteer management and local training seasons.Other duties shall include working directly with the President / CEO and VP / COO to assist with events including fundraising, games / tournaments, program / coaches trainings and special events. Qualifications :

College degree preferred.Familiar with Special Olympics Alaska mission, philosophy, general and sports rules.Experience with volunteer management, sports training, and program and event management. High energy and good computer, written and oral communication and organizational skills. Ability to work nights and weekends. Supervisor and Evaluation : Supervised by the VP / COO and is evaluated annually by the VP / COO and President / CEO. Responsibilities include : Ensure compliance to the general rules, policies, and standards of Special Olympics Alaska. Recruit and manage local community program volunteers to include managing Volunteer Community Directors, Volunteer Management Teams, coaches and other volunteers Ensure that each Community is accredited by assisting the Volunteer Community Director and Volunteer Community Management Teams in developing and submitting an annual Business and Sports Plan Creation and implementation of Special Olympics Alaska Community Program budgets. Work with Volunteer Community Directors and Volunteer Management Teams to successfully implement their business and sports plan and conduct local training seasons and local competitions. Work with the Director of Initiatives on transition planning for UCS programs to lifelong community programs. Identify and offer training on topics needed by community volunteers. Communicate SO-AK news and opportunities to athletes and volunteers in the community. Manage the community program involvement of the Alaska Law Enforcement Torch Run and Pledge Drive and assist the Fundraising Events Manager with this and other fundraising events. Other Office Duties and Projects : As assigned by the President / CEO and VP / COO. Wage and Benefits :

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits.
