The Contemporary Piano Instructor teaches individual lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, with a focus on engaging beginners interested in exploring various musical styles, including jazz, pop, and rock. The Instructor will maintain high teaching standards while introducing foundational piano techniques and nurturing students' creativity across diverse genres. Additionally, the Instructor may participate in studio recitals and have opportunities to coach small ensembles or lead group classes. RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Instruction & Mentorship
Provide high-quality, individualized piano instruction, demonstrating effective techniques and musical interpretation Develop and lead lesson plans that foster growth and creative exploration Maintain professional standards and stay current with best practices in jazz, pop, and rock piano pedagogy Establish rapport with students and families, encouraging open communication Administrative
Manage studio logistics including lesson scheduling, registration, and communication with students and families Performance Preparation
Ensure students are performance-ready and understand how to translate rehearsal work into public presentation Community & Culture Building
Foster an inclusive, student-centered environment supporting risk-taking and creative expression Support outreach efforts to raise awareness and engage new participants Model curiosity, openness, and professionalism in all interactions QUALIFICATIONS
Education
A degree or certification in music or music education, or equivalent, preferred Experience
Minimum of three years of studio teaching across all ages and skill levels, with significant experience with young students and beginners Experience teaching small groups and diverse musical styles is preferred Skills & Abilities
High pedagogical standards Ability to tailor instruction to individual goals Commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching
