News Producer

to join our team! The Associate Producer generates, plans, and develops ideas for newscasts. The position is responsible for conceiving, writing, and preparing broadcast material, including local and national stories, newsbreaks, teasers, headlines, and digital content. ABOUT YOU: You must have a strong sense of journalistic ethics, excellent editorial judgment, and a good understanding of local, state, and national current events. Knowledge of the Latino community demographics in Arizona is also important. You will report to the News Director. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: Minimum of 6 months of experience as a News Producer. Lead and conduct news meetings, generate story ideas, and coordinate news crews and reporters. Oversee the on-air look of news broadcasts to ensure it follows UTG and station policies. Full command of the Spanish language, both written and spoken, is required. Proofread rundowns and scripts for accuracy before broadcast. Manage content and creative flow of the broadcast, including writing teases and headlines, and coordinating graphics. Collaborate with the Executive Producer and News Director as a liaison between producers, photographers, and reporters. Assign stories to reporters and photographers. Prepare the newscast rundown on the iNews system for morning broadcasts. Supervise the writing and pre-production of all broadcast elements, including anchor stories, reporter tracks, video editing, and graphics. Line produce and back-time the newscast during live transmission. Create and execute original stories and participate in sweeps projects. Demonstrate leadership skills, be a team player, and adhere to strong news judgment and ethics. Possess knowledge of newsroom operations, electronic news-gathering (ENG), and office equipment. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Perform other duties as assigned. YOU HAVE: Minimum of 6 months of experience as a News Producer. Social media proficiency. Comfortable working in a leadership role. Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, edit, reach, and sit for up to 8 hours.
