About the Role As Managing Director, you will lead a key global client partnership, championing our renewed focus on innovation and helping to shape a next-generation model for collaboration in an AI-powered world. You will oversee the redesign of how we work—recasting and building the team, identifying the right partners, and ensuring we consistently deliver breakthrough, growth-driving work. As a senior leader, you will help define what’s next for R/GA’s services, tools, and products, informed by your deep understanding of both client priorities and the broader market landscape. Here’s what you should know if you want to be a Managing Director, Client Engagement at R/GA: On any given day you might Drive growth across a global client portfolio, identifying opportunities to expand our impact across practices (specific targets to be aligned with the Americas President post-start). Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team by assessing current capabilities, hiring key talent, and fostering collaboration across internal teams and accounts. Design and implement a modern engagement model tailored to the client’s evolving needs and ambitions. Develop trusted relationships with senior stakeholders to deliver category-defining, business-impacting work. Identify and forge strategic partnerships that expand the client's marketing and innovation capabilities. Ensure the financial and operational success of the portfolio in partnership with the finance director. Develop and own a strategic growth plan for the portfolio, outlining opportunities, capabilities, and talent required for future success. Leverage expertise in AI and emerging technologies to co-create new products, services, and consulting offerings. The ideal person Possesses exceptional client relationship skills, demonstrating the ability to strategically partner with and influence senior clients. Leads the development of strategic marketing and innovation plans. Exhibits flawless presentation skills, from story conception to boardroom delivery. Collaborates effectively with strategists, consultants, creatives, and technologists, integrating diverse skill sets. Is inventive and entrepreneurial, fostering the growth of key client relationships. Makes independent decisions that balance the needs of the client with internal priorities. Is a self-starter who knows when to zoom in on the details or step back and steer the big picture. You Bring 15+ years of experience managing large-scale client engagements. 5+ years in advertising or digital marketing, with experience leading complex global client relationships across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. A proven track record in global team leadership and cross-regional collaboration. Expertise in innovation consulting, branding, and/or digital marketing—connecting brands to culture in ways that matter. Experience developing innovative campaigns and social content that help brands stay competitive in a rapidly shifting digital landscape. A strong background in digital products and large-scale experience design, with knowledge of modern engineering and technology platforms. A deep curiosity and passion for all things AI—and a desire to explore what it makes possible. *This role is based in SF or NYC. Candidates must be located in one of these areas or willing to relocate before their start date. This position offers a hybrid work model, but regular in-person collaboration is expected. The hiring range for this position is $200,000 to $275,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s applicable skills, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
