We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead a team of laboratory scientists supporting programs in the Translational Medicine group at our Summit, NJ site. About Translational Development at BMS This group leads late-stage clinical, pharmacological, and translational research activities, supporting portfolio development, regulatory, and lifecycle management. It drives strategy across therapeutic areas such as hematology, oncology, immunology, cardiovascular, and neuroscience, integrating laboratory science, clinical trials, and disease research to maximize therapeutic potential. Role Summary Reporting to the Director of Translational Development, the successful candidate will manage the scientific and preclinical laboratory components of multiple late-stage programs (phase 2 and beyond). Responsibilities include leading from the bench in studies related to mechanism of action, differentiation, combination strategies, and resistance mechanisms. Key Responsibilities Conduct preclinical studies involving BMS assets to support research goals Deliver data supporting translational strategies including biomarkers, patient selection, dosing, and resistance mechanisms Collaborate with research scientists across teams to ensure seamless information flow Contribute to external collaborations and maintain detailed reports and presentations Communicate effectively and contribute to strategic discussions Qualifications PhD with at least 2 years relevant experience for Scientist level; 4+ years for Senior Scientist Experience in drug development, especially in hematology, oncology, or neuroscience, is preferred Strong publication record and research experience in academic or industry settings Technical Skills Deep understanding of cancer biology and/or neuroscience Knowledge of drug development processes and translational research Ability to develop preclinical strategies with disease teams Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Additional Attributes Commitment to quality, integrity, and accountability Strong scientific analysis and strategic prioritization skills Competitive starting salary: $128,000-$140,000 for Scientist; $140,000-$160,000 for Senior Scientist, plus incentives and stock options Benefits include medical, dental, vision, wellness programs, 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, parental and family leave, tuition reimbursement, and more.
