What you will be doing in the role of VP, Community Development Strategy & Midwest
The Vice President, Community Development Strategy and Midwest Region serves as the regional fundraising leader for Susan G. Komen that is responsible for the strategy, budget and management of multiple fundraising markets and channels. This leader will be tasked with driving a major source of revenue for the organization through MORE THAN PINK Walk/Race for the Cure, special events, third parties, corporate and employee engagement, DIY and Individual Giving. The Vice President will manage. Revenue strategy for one or more of Komen’s key fundraising areas overseeing a program development team responsible for the centralized strategy, resources, technology and marketing. These areas include one of the following: (1) Workplace Giving and Program,(2) Revenue Strategy team, (3) Sports and School-Based Fundraising and (4) Development Programs which include DIY fundraising, Third Party fundraising and mission and social events. Each Vice President of a Region will oversee the growth strategy and programmatic design of one of these four areas.
This representative will work closely with organizational leadership to represent their region, work collaboratively with internal fundraising teams and contribute to fundraising strategy for Susan G. Komen. The VPR, Community Development Strategy & MIDWEST region will also represent the organization as a community and non-profit leader in their Region and beyond. Collaboration will be essential in working with other Development teams in identifying Major Donors, Corporate Partners and Community leaders in their Region to drive fundraising opportunities across the organization. They will also identify and implement strategies to strengthen our fundraising programs for both internal teams and external audiences. The VP Community Development Strategy & Midwest Region will oversee a fundraising team throughout the region and is responsible for the annual development plan of their program area and budget and works cross functionally with other departments at Komen to meet strategic goals.
What You Will Bring To The Table
Develop year-round fundraising strategy to meet revenue goals for the Region and through your assigned development area focus. Identifying and laying out clear strategies for growth through program design, and execution. Oversee and lead State Executive and Executive Directors in each market as well as the development program team. Drive a culture of innovation through supporting and developing new fundraising strategies. Conduct regular strategy meetings with markets to ensure best practices and timelines are being followed. Gaps are identified and strategies are developed to overcome barriers and increase results. Oversee the development of internal workgroups and set clear annual goals and objectives ensuring that they deliver for the broader Community Development team. Set strategy, budget oversee program development team responsible for the centralized strategy, resources, technology and marketing. These areas include one of the following: (1) Workplace Giving and Program,(2) Revenue Strategy team, (3) Sports and School-Based Fundraising and (4) Development Programs which include DIY fundraising, Third Party fundraising and mission and social events. Each Vice President of a Region will oversee the growth strategy and programmatic design of one of these four areas. Work across Community Development regional teams and development teams to drive revenue achievement and continuity through the support of the new revenue team. Create annual plan for the revenue channel and lead team supporting the implementation and execution of these fundraising programs. Oversee the Region and program revenue and expense budget as well as the budget for the team. Meet monthly fundraising goals and maintain budget in line with organizational guidelines. Secure high dollar corporate sponsorships for the Region and maintaining an ongoing pipeline of potential corporate partners and donors. Adhere to best practices and drive accountability by the team. Keep market/state Komen Leadership Council, participants, volunteers, and staff on track and motivated to reach revenue goals. Represent the organization as a community and non-profit leader in regional opportunities. Work in collaboration with cross functional development teams such as major gifts, corporate partners, experiential to implement development strategies and programs in the region. Work in collaboration with the Corporate Partnership fundraising team to identify, support and cultivate corporate partnerships in the region. Represent regional and community development needs/efforts on internal, cross-functional department councils or task force as directed. Work cross functionally with other Community Development Vice Presidents to drive larger national strategies. Mentor and lead a highly effective team of professionals, and promote a results-oriented culture that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning and improvement. Serve as a champion for accountability, integrity and transparency, and work with operations staff to support effective business practices. Promote an organizational culture that embraces diversity as a core value. All other duties as assigned.
We know you will have and be able to
Bachelor's degree and minimum 10+ years’ experience in fundraising, special events and team management. With a minimum of 5 years fundraising experience overseeing $5-10m+ in revenue, through peer-to-peer fundraising events or programs , corporate partnerships and major gifts. Ability to close face to face sales and build integrated corporate partnerships. Ability to use data to drive results. Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written; research, develop, present, and promote projects; work independently; prioritize work and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, lead with influence, work cross-functionally and must demonstrate collaboration Strong volunteer recruitment and management skills and demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and motivation to business and social leaders. Ability to develop fundraising programs to meet the needs of internal fundraising teams as well as external users to drive revenue generation and growth for the organization. Ability and track record building executive fundraising committees comprised of leadership level volunteers focused on revenue generation. Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills. Demonstrated professional and mature interaction with other staff and leadership volunteers, sponsors, donors and others to engage them toward the achievement of revenue goals. Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varying priorities at one time. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively speak and present to individuals including high net worth donors, executive corporate management as well as small, mid-size and large groups. Willingness and ability to travel throughout the market and work evenings and weekends as needed. Familiar with the Region and local non-profit space. Must be willing and able to travel through region including overnight stays up to 25% of the time.

Competitive salary of $153,000 to $220,000/annual, exact compensation ranges are based on a range of factors including but not limited to the labor market, job level, internal equity, and budget.
