Now Hiring: Business Development Director - Detroit RSM is seeking a dynamic Business Development Director to join our growing team in the Detroit market. The role involves driving growth in the Industrial Products / Consumer Products industry segments by representing all services offered by our audit, tax, and consulting divisions.
The Director will lead all aspects of the sales process, including prospect targeting, developing sales strategies, assembling pursuit teams, and managing the entire sales cycle. Building and maintaining strong sales pipelines, preparing presentations and proposals, closing sales, and finalizing agreements are key responsibilities. Collaboration with industry and line of business leaders, networking, and participation in industry groups are essential for success.

Responsibilities:
Sourcing and qualifying new opportunities outside current client base.
Executing the sales plan and coordinating resources to secure business.
Networking through professional affiliations and industry groups.
Working with industry leaders to identify target companies.
Supporting cross-selling efforts with existing clients.
Developing targeted go-to-market plans with marketing resources.
Providing feedback on market opportunities to sales management.
Building and maintaining sales pipelines related to industry and service opportunities.
Collaborating with staff to address marketplace needs.
Preparing and facilitating presentations and proposals.
Closing sales and finalizing client agreements.
Leading cross-functional teams to pursue market opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience selling professional services to middle-market corporations ($20M - $1B+ revenue).
Experience working across various industries and leading teams of experts.
Proven ability to drive complex sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers, including C-suite executives.
Existing network of Centers of Influence (banking, legal, professional services).
Experience with proposal and SOW creation, CRM tools, and social media networking.
Excellent negotiation, influence, and executive presence skills.
Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and organizational skills.
Experience with large regional or national professional service firms.
Active C-level network contacts.
Community involvement and industry association participation.
