Sr. SDET - Data Quality Engineer
Required Skills: Looking for someone with database automation development skills. The environment is being built from scratch, so experience with ETL, DWH, Data Lake, and large datasets is essential. Open to relocating to Colorado; the role requires hybrid work in Lakewood, CO from Day 1.
Job Summary: As a Senior SDET Data Quality Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain automated data validation frameworks and pipelines. You will collaborate with data engineers, software developers, QA, DevOps, and compliance teams to embed robust data quality checks into our data ecosystem. This is a senior, hands-on role demanding expertise in automation, data engineering, and SDET best practices.
Essential Duties:
- Architect and implement automated test frameworks for batch and streaming data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
- Build scalable test harnesses for schema validation, data transformations, lineage, and anomaly detection.
- Develop and execute various tests for data workflows.
- Integrate data quality checks into CI/CD pipelines and orchestrators like ADF and Databricks.
- Collaborate with teams to define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and quality gates.
- Create reusable components for synthetic data, mocking, and negative testing.
- Monitor and troubleshoot failures in automated data tests.
- Maintain data integrity standards for datasets used in analytics, ML, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with standards like HIPAA, GDPR, FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
- Contribute to documentation, training, and evangelism around data quality practices.
- Experience with data observability and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of data governance tools like Unity Catalog and Informatica.
- Familiarity with healthcare data formats such as FHIR, HL7, or clinical trial datasets.
- Exposure to performance/load testing for large-scale data systems.

- Share expertise in data quality engineering.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
- 5+ years in test automation, data engineering, or SDET roles.
- Hands-on experience with Python and SQL for testing and validation.
- Experience with frameworks like PyTest, unittest, Great Expectations, Soda, Deequ.
- Strong knowledge of cloud data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Delta Lake, ADLS, ADF).
- Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.
- Proficiency in Git, Docker, and basic infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, ARM).
- Experience testing healthcare or regulated systems with compliance understanding.
Education: Bachelors or Masters in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
