Sec Technical Accounting Manager

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced SEC Technical Accounting Manager to lead their financial reporting and compliance efforts. This role is vital to ensure the company's adherence to GAAP and SEC regulations while delivering timely, accurate, and transparent reports to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a driven accounting professional with a deep understanding of technical accounting, SEC filings, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, and other required filings, ensuring compliance with deadlines and accuracy of disclosures.
  • Monitor and implement new accounting standards, including assessing their impact on the organization.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, including M&A, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and lease accounting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during quarterly and annual reviews and provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory guidance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including legal, FP&A, tax, and investor relations, to ensure accurate reporting and alignment of financial information.
  • Uphold internal controls over financial reporting (SOX), ensuring compliance and recommending improvements.
  • Stay abreast of changes in SEC regulations, accounting standards, and industry practices, proactively advising management of any relevant updates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required); CPA designation (strongly preferred).
  • A minimum of 8 years' of experience in public accounting and/or experience in a controllership or SEC reporting role within a public company environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and technical accounting standards.
  • Experience managing the implementation of evolving accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842).
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior communication skills, with the ability to present technical accounting issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in accounting software/ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with financial transformation projects or new ERP implementations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with XBRL tagging and SEC disclosure tools is highly desirable.
  • Ability to be proactive, adaptable, and work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
