SUMMARY:
The General Counsel Attorney will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice and support on a range of issues related to property and asset management. This role will involve drafting and reviewing contracts, advising on compliance matters, managing disputes, and ensuring that all activities align with applicable laws and regulations
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Legal Compliance:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to property and asset management
Stay updated on changes in laws affecting property management practices, including landlord-tenant laws, zoning, and real estate regulations
Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to property leasing, acquisition, management, and maintenance
Develop and implement standard contract templates and ensure consistency in contractual agreements
Dispute Resolution:
Represent the company in legal disputes, including eviction proceedings, lease disputes, and other litigation matters
Coordinate with outside counsel as necessary for specialized legal issues
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential legal risks associated with property management operations
Develop and implement policies and procedures to reduce liability and improve compliance
Advisory Role:
Provide legal advice to management and staff on a variety of issues affecting property and asset management
Train employees on legal issues related to property management and compliance requirements
Policy Development:
Assist in the development of internal policies and procedures related to property management activities
Ensure that company policies reflect current legal standards and best practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in the State of California
Strong understanding of real estate law, landlord-tenant law, and compliance regulations
Proven experience in contract negotiation and dispute resolution
Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
