Since its founding in 1997, The Surgical Clinic has continued to attract talented surgeons, becoming one of Middle Tennessee's most respected practices.TSC specializes in bariatric surgery, breast surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry, surgical oncology surgery, vascular & endovascular surgery, and veins. In addition, TSC has established several Vascular Procedure Centers, TSC prosthetics and accredited ultrasound labs.Position SummaryThe Vascular Lab Sonographer reports to the Vascular Lab Manager and performs all required vascular ultrasound and Doppler examinations at a high technical level under limited supervision. In this position, the Vascular Sonographer will perform ultrasound examinations at multiple locations. At all times, the Vascular Lab Sonographer maintains a high level of medical ethics, is self-motivated, strives to increase their knowledge and understanding of the field of vascular diagnosis and treatment, while constantly maintaining patient privacy and respecting patient confidential information.Key ResponsibilitiesObtains pertinent patient medical information and performs the required vascular lab examination(s) according to lab protocol.Establishes good communication and rapport with office staff and physicians.Completes daily and monthly tasks assigned by Vascular Lab Manager.Identifies and documents appropriate anatomical and diagnostic images and prepares preliminary report for physician interpretation.Delivers the highest standard of care to patients.Travels to clinic site assigned by the Vascular Lab Manager.Documents travel time, hours worked, and any additional expenses incurred during travel assignments.Maintains ultrasound equipment, work areas and inventory of supplies needed.Assists with vascular laboratory accreditation through IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission).Participates in QI Meetings and obtains required CMEs per ADMS or CCIMaintains patient privacy with respect to OSHA and HIPAA Standards.Assists in the training and orientation of new employees.Stays up to date with BLS certification.Other duties as requested.Requirements and QualificationsHigh school graduate/diploma is required.Willingness to travel and work at a different site on short notice as needed.Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular technology training program (2-4 years) must be registry eligible for the current year.Must be responsible, self-motivated, and capable of working with limited supervision under guidelines set by the supervisor.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.License/ CertificationsMust have appropriate credential in vascular testing with active status. If not credentialed, must become credentialed within first six months of employment.Appropriate Credentials:RVT- Registered Vascular Technologist Specialist by ARDMSRVS- Registered Vascular Specialist by CCIBLS- Basic Life SupportPhysical RequirementsThe physical requirements listed are representative of those that may be faced by a Vascular Lab Manager throughout their scope of employment.
