Sr. Chief Engineer
Senior Chief Engineer is responsible for the effective daily leadership of his/her staff, managing the engineering program to the highest level of quality work and customer service and the administration of his/her department in alignment with the Management Team, C&W Engineering Platform and Client expectations. The Senior Chief Engineer will perform at the highest of ethical standards, reflecting the core values of C&W as defined in its Business Code of Conduct, Policies and Procedures Manual and other related Company Policy. Responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, and supervision of all tasks and activity regarding the mechanical operations, its maintenance and modifications taking place at his/her assigned property(s). The Senior Chief Engineer will ensure that the plant, infrastructure and its associated equipment operate safely, efficiently and reliably. This includes building systems utilized for communicating and reporting such as energy management, preventive maintenance, work order, building automation and fire protection as examples. The Senior Chief Engineer will exhibit a strong formal knowledge of operational and technical skills, and will be accountable for staff performance and execution of assignments. Direct Mobile HVAC Engineering operations, overseeing maintenance, repairs, staff supervision, safety compliance, budgeting, and system performance across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Coordinate with internal and client teams, manage preventive maintenance programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and support client projects, asset tracking, and Building Management Systems. Lead Mobile HVAC Engineering operations, including maintenance, repairs, and replacements. Supervise and develop engineering staff; manage hiring, training, and performance. Oversee HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; stay current on HVAC technologies. Ensure 100% team compliance with C&W Safety Program and coordinate annual safety activities. Assist in developing operating budgets. Oversee inspections and resolve building system issues. Recommend and implement improvements to preventive maintenance programs. Develop and manage preventive/predictive maintenance schedules per manufacturer and industry standards. Provide guidance on equipment replacement and train staff on building systems. Coordinate work with project management teams. Engage regularly with C&W Operations Manager, Facilities Management, Project Management, and Asset Management. Review specs and quality on new buildings pre-handover. Respond quickly to emergencies and client concerns. Ensure management and documentation of all client assets, including development and completion of maintenance programs. Ensure compliance with all codes, regulations, and company policies. Support Client Facility Manager(s) / Engineering Manager(s) with rehabilitation projects such as replacement of HVAC systems, plumbing repairs, and alterations to other Building Systems. Regularly engage in site visits with client and facility management teams. Escalate issues as needed and keep clients informed. Ensure work requests align with client SLA agreement and optimize costs. Prepare work schedules and manage their progress. Support Building Management Systems (BMS) initiatives. Manage HR matters like payroll, insurance claims, and report incidents using GenSuite, oversee company vehicle maintenance through Element Fleet management tool. IMPORTANT EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE:
7+ years of related work experience in a commercial property setting or any similar combination of education or experience ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
Vocational/Technical training certificate
Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses
Universal Technician for CFC's depending on market licensure requirements
Financial knowledge necessary for reading and understanding budgets, budget variances and basic reporting as required by management
Familiar with Energy Management System (EMS)/programming and fire alarm systems
