As a Medical Technologist 1 at NKI, you will perform specialized chemical, physical, and microscopic clinical laboratory procedures and tests on human tissue specimens and body fluids in accordance with approved standards and operating procedures in NKI's Clinical Laboratory. Duties: Prepares specimens and samples for testing. Operates, adjusts, monitors, and maintains clinical laboratory instruments and equipment. Prepares and analyzes specimens and samples for use in clinical laboratory proficiency testing. Analyzes, interprets, and discusses test results and findings with higher-level clinical laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and/or scientists. Documents clinical laboratory activities, maintains required records, and prepares statistical reports. Assists in the research and development of new clinical laboratory techniques, procedures, and methodologies. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology; OR Minimum of 90 semester hours or equivalent in an accredited college or university and the successful completion of a course of training of at least 12 months in a school of medical technology approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association. OR Bachelor's degree in one of the Chemical, Physical, or Biological Sciences and one year of training and/or experience in medical technology. OR Any combination of academic study and training and/or experience outlined in Section 58 of Title 10 of the New York State Public Health Law as referenced in the New York State Codes, Rules, and Regulations (NYCRR). All candidates who meet the minimum qualifications must possess a valid New York State license, issued by the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
