As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in moving medications throughout the facility. You will join a team that empowers you to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care and teaching and research activities. In this unit, you will find a positive dynamic where caregivers respect and support one another in providing the best care possible. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts, with every rotating third weekend requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding. Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections. Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training. Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks. Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) upon hire Active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within six months Understanding of algebraic calculations for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program Six month of hospital experience Cleveland Clinic empowers caregivers to minimize the impacts of healthcare while optimizing patient outcomes and supporting the community.
