Position Overview
HunaTek is seeking a highly skilled
Sr. Azure Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
to support hybrid enterprise infrastructure systems for the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). This position will be responsible for engineering, administering, and supporting complex On-Premises and Cloud infrastructure environments, including Microsoft Azure, VMware, Windows Server, and Linux systems. The successful candidate will ensure operational continuity, security compliance, and lifecycle management for classified and unclassified systems in both domestic and overseas locations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide full system engineering support across both On-Prem and Azure-based cloud platforms, ensuring availability, performance, and security of enterprise systems. Lead the implementation of infrastructure projects, incorporating best practices and developing comprehensive project plans, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS). Develop and maintain life cycle plans for enterprise environments, including documentation such as SOPs, installation guides, upgrade procedures, and disaster recovery strategies. Perform system administration, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting for Windows, Linux, and UNIX servers in development, test, and production environments. Conduct system performance monitoring, patch management, operating system upgrades, and incident analysis. Manage Active Directory services, including group policies, DNS, DHCP, WINS, VPN, IIS, and FTP. Create, test, and deploy Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) images; install and upgrade hardware/software; support workstation software rollouts using automated deployment tools. Provide Tier III technical support for domestic and international facilities. Integrate strategic objectives into a Requirements Traceability Matrix; participate in configuration control boards and manage change requests. Execute system, unit, and integration testing to validate stability and performance. Support configuration, licensing, and maintenance of COTS and custom applications. Provide technically sound recommendations to resolve complex infrastructure challenges and optimize system architecture. Generate deliverables such as incident after-action reports, performance plans, and capacity assessments. Provide Support for DevOps CI/CD pipeline deployments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 10 years of hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and cloud-based infrastructure (Azure preferred). Proven expertise in VMware, Linux/UNIX server administration, and hybrid cloud environments. Strong understanding of systems engineering, ITIL processes, and lifecycle management principles. Experience with enterprise patch management, configuration control, and performance tuning. Proficiency in imaging tools, automated deployment technologies, and Group Policy Object (GPO) administration. Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across platforms and manage documentation for installations, changes, and configurations. Familiarity with security compliance standards and system hardening techniques in federal environments. Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver presentations to technical and non-technical audiences. Proven expertise in management of Microsoft Azure resources and security an Azure environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification ITIL v4 certification Experience supporting Department of State, DOD, or other federal agencies Familiarity with classified network environments and DISA STIGs
