Water Resources Engineer / Water Resources Designer
to join our
Transportation team
in
Owings Mills, Baltimore or our Fairfax
office! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our
one of the above
offices.
Working on the roadway team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all . What You’ll Be Challenged To Do
The engineer will gain experience over time under supervision of a professional engineer and will be required to perform the following services: Provide design and drafting support for Water Resources aspects of highway design, site, and facility projects including storm drain systems, SWM facilities, erosion and sediment control and other related aspects. Assist in performing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and technical writing in order to prepare reports and permit applications, including those for wetland and waterway construction, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control. Assist in performing field reviews of project sites to determine existing conditions to aid in the project design. Provide technical assistance for other design projects as needed, including stream restorations and bridge scour studies.
Education | Experience:
What You Will Bring To Our Firm
B.S. in Civil Engineering, emphasis in water resources or environmental engineering E.I.T. preferred. 1-3 years of transportation related experience including grading, storm drain systems, culverts, open channel flow, stormwater management (SWM), and erosion and sediment control
What We Prefer You Bring
Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation and related Bentley programs is preferred Experience with HEC-RAS, StormCAD or other water resource related programs is a plus Must be able to learn, understand and be able to apply Maryland and Federal design codes, AASHTO, SHA Highway Drainage Manual, MDE Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control Requirements
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $90,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
