Position Summary
The role of the Program Manager is to develop and implement programs, supervise, and coordinate the direction of multiple youth development programs including SYAEP and Summer Bridge. Under the supervision of the Director of Education, the Program Manager drives the culture of a team including hiring, developing and coaching. The Program Manager will be a thought partner to the Program Director and regularly interface and communicate with the city departments and other community-based partners.
Responsibilities
Develop, administer, and manage a diverse set of youth programs aligned with the mission, goals, and program parameters of YCD and its funders. Support direct service staff through regular one-on-one coaching, constructive feedback, and actionable tools to enhance program delivery and participant engagement. Coordinate and deliver ongoing professional development opportunities that build staff capacity, strengthen youth development practices, and promote staff retention and growth. Oversee effective program implementation, ensuring activities meet quality standards, achieving desired outcomes, and retaining participants throughout the program cycle. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with subcontractors and community partners to provide program supplements such as specialized workshops, enrichment activities, and guest facilitators. Coordinate engaging field trips, special events, and experiential learning opportunities that align with program goals and expand youth's exposure to new ideas and environments. Collaborate closely with fiscal staff and upper management to fulfill funding requirements, enhance program resources, and ensure efficient use of program budgets. Build and sustain a high level of accountability and strategic communication with city agencies, community stakeholders, and funding partners through meetings, reports, and presentations. Gather and analyze program data, manage project trackers and timelines, and direct cross-functional teams to deliver project goals and funding commitments. Identify operational gaps and design new processes, tools, and program initiatives to ensure departmental consistency, increased productivity, and continuous improvement. Develop clear, compelling narratives and presentations tailored to various audiences to advance team strategies and secure needed resources. Partner with the HR department and Program Director to plan, recruit, interview, and onboard qualified candidates to meet year-round and seasonal staffing needs. Conduct ongoing assessments of program quality and staff performance; implement strategies to improve outcomes and maintain high standards of service delivery. Lead, mentor, and evaluate direct reports to ensure high-quality performance, teamwork, and excellent client experiences.
What You Will Bring
A successful candidate will possess:
B.A./B.S. degree in related field or 4 years of related work experience Minimum 2 to 3 years' experience designing, implementing, and overseeing programs. At least 3 to 4 years' experience supervising direct reports. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation between locations. Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and the ability and willingness to work with economically and culturally diverse clientele from various professional and ethnic backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written communications, patience, diplomacy, and high level of customer service skills Embraces cultural differences and is willing to foster diversity, equity and inclusion. Understands the complexities of working with trauma-stricken and displaced clients/customers while demonstrating composure and empathetic support. Experienced leader with the capacity to leverage best practices such as motivational strength-based coaching. Self-motivated individual who has a passion to ensure that program goals, objectives and tasks exceed standards. An efficient multi-tasker who demonstrates effective time management and the capacity to meet competing deadlines. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills (writing sample may be requested). Strong commitment to the mission of Young Community Developers Inc. and to individuals from diverse populations Well organized, flexible, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet goal objectives; excellent team player. True attention to detail, ability to complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner Continuous commitment to improve occupational knowledge Demonstrate competency with using Microsoft Office Suite, Teams and other technology platforms.
