The VP, Director of Data Engineering is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for defining and executing the vision for enterprise data engineering, pipeline development, and platform architecture. Leads the design, development, and operational oversight of scalable data pipelines and systems that enable data integration, analytics, reporting, and data science across the organization. This role ensures secure, compliant, and high-performing data environments by guiding engineering and architecture teams. It is key to advancing the Bank's data maturity and driving business value through efficient data practices and infrastructure. Qualifications
Extensive experience in designing and managing complex data pipelines, platform architecture, and distributed data systems. Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, R, with experience in ETL/ELT tools and orchestration frameworks. Hands-on experience with modern data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, or similar. Proven success in leading and scaling technical teams in data engineering and platform architecture. Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid architectures. Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, CI/CD, version control, and DevOps tools. Understanding of metadata management, data quality, and data lineage tools. Ability to align data initiatives with business strategies and influence stakeholders. Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management of team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Essential Duties
Define and lead strategic vision for data pipelines and architecture. Modernize legacy systems using new technologies and cloud infrastructure. Oversee data lifecycle management, including ingestion, transformation, and storage. Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and real-time workflows. Manage hybrid data architectures, ensuring security, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and promote data literacy. Build and mentor high-performing teams, including offshore personnel. Additional Requirements
Maintain proficiency in Bank policies, procedures, and compliance regulations. Complete all required training timely.
