Head Coach - Softball Division: Office of the President Department: Athletics Department Work Status: Full Time Position Category: Staff FLSA: Exempt Pay Range: Exempt Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 / year Fund Source: State Support Job Summary The Head Softball Coach is a full-time, twelve-month position supervising an assistant coach at Morgan State University, an NCAA Division I institution. The role involves overseeing all aspects of the Softball Team, which competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The Head Coach must support and promote the University’s mission. Job Duties Provide guidance, skill instruction, and concepts to student-athletes. Monitor academic progress and provide necessary support. Lead planning meetings for practices and competitions. Promote the well-being of student-athletes across physical, mental, emotional, and social aspects. Manage team budget, including travel, meals, apparel, and footwear. Recruit student-athletes through personal contact, evaluation, and campus visits within NCAA rules. Maintain a database of prospective athletes. Respond to inquiries within 24 hours. Build and maintain recruiting schedules and manage visits and documentation. Develop community relationships for sponsorship and fundraising. Coordinate community service activities. Plan and oversee summer camps and clinics. Participate in professional development. Ensure compliance with Title IX and other policies. Handle confidential information ethically. Coordinate game day management. Attend scheduled meetings and perform administrative duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution. At least three years of collegiate softball coaching experience. CPR/First Aid Certification and valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain Mental Health First Aid certification within one year. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree preferred. Five years of NCAA Division I coaching experience, including head coaching. Skills & Abilities Ability to instruct and give feedback to athletes in various movements. Proficiency with computers, phones, and softball equipment. Additional Details
