Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented attorney to join its Chicago-based team. This role focuses on litigation in medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, trucking accidents, and civil rights. The ideal candidate is a skilled advocate with strong organizational capabilities, a proven track record of success in trial settings, and the ability to handle cases from inception to resolution while collaborating with leadership and support staff.
Duties
Manage and prosecute cases involving medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, trucking accidents, and civil rights violations. Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other court documents. Take and defend depositions, including standard-of-care depositions. Advocate for clients effectively in court, including participating in trials. Collaborate closely with senior attorneys and support staff to develop and execute case strategies. Maintain detailed organization of case files and timelines to ensure efficiency and compliance with legal deadlines. Engage with clients to provide updates, guidance, and strategic counsel throughout the legal process. Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience. They are licensed to practice law in Illinois (required). Demonstrated experience with trial work, including a record of successful outcomes. Proficiency in taking depositions and drafting high-quality legal documents. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Certifications
Active membership in the Illinois State Bar. Skills
Expertise in medical malpractice and nursing home abuse law (preferred). Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred). High level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
