The Position: ??The
Senior ABAP Programmer
is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ABAP applications that support various business processes within KAB. This role works collaboratively across the organization and is considered lead in nature providing guidance and mentorship to junior programmers.

The Location:
Hybrid combining working from home, and onsite in White River Junction VT up to four times per year.
The Pay:
$97,300 to $131,400 annual salary; commensurate with experience
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Designs, develops, and maintains robust ABAP programs across SAP modules (SD, MM, PPDS, FICO) ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability. Leads and executes the creation, modification, and optimization of CDS views to support analytical and transactional applications. Performs both on-stack (within SAP standard SAP NetWeaver stack) and off-stack (external or side-by-side extension) ABAP development to address diverse business needs. Collaborates with functional teams, business analysts, and end users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Integrates ABAP developments with SAP Fiori, OData services, and SAP HANA where required. Troubleshoots, debugs, and resolves complex ABAP and CDS-related issues efficiently. Maintains comprehensive technical documentation for developed objects and solutions. Follows SAP best practices and coding standards to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions. Mentors and supports junior developers, fostering continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team.
Experience And Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 5+ years of hands-on experience in ABAP programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven expertise in both on-stack and off-stack development. Strong proficiency in designing and modifying CDS views, including advanced annotations and performance tuning. Demonstrated expertise in understanding Clean Core approaches and providing strategic recommendations for development methodologies. Familiarity with the three tiers of extensibility for approaching Clean Core development. Experience with side-by-side extensions using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Previous exposure to SAP upgrade and migration projects preferred. Experience with RFCs, APIs, OData, and SAP Fiori integration. Proficient in SAP debugging, performance analysis, and optimization techniques. Experience with CPG and Manufacturing companies is a plus.
Competencies
Operational & Technical Acumen: Deep knowledge of SAP Cloud Platform and RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), as well as solid understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and data models, agile methodologies and DevOps practices within SAP environments. Problem Solving & Decision Making: Skilled in analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving complex technical issues within SAP environments efficiently. Documentation & Communication: Skilled in creating technical documentation and communicating clearly with stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding. Collaboration & Mentoring: Ability to mentor junior developers and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including business and end users.
