MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Senior Medical Director of Addiction Services. The successful candidate will be BC/BE in Addiction Medicine, with administrative, leadership, and research experience preferred. MHBH is developing a comprehensive system-wide substance use disorder services, including treatments for opiate and alcohol addictions, for the regional population. This initiative aligns with MHBH's role as the lead for MaineHealth's behavioral health service line. The system features over 30 clinical programs across nearly 30 locations, making it a regional and national model for treating serious mental health issues. MHBH is Northern New England's leading integrated behavioral healthcare system, serving southern, western, central, and Mid-Coast Maine. It includes the region's only nonprofit psychiatric hospital, outpatient treatment, crisis services, crisis stabilization units, and five ACT teams. Maine Medical Center (MHMMC), MaineHealth's largest hospital, has 637 beds and is a leading tertiary care hospital and Level One Trauma Center, affiliated with Tufts University Medical School. The role includes developing an addiction research program in partnership with the Center for Psychiatric Research and expanding educational programs such as an Addiction Medicine Fellowship, along with opportunities for residents from various GME programs and medical students. The Senior Medical Director will oversee and develop the Substance Use Disorders Service and Behavioral Health Service Line, including clinical programs, academic initiatives, research, and quality improvement efforts. MaineHealth is a not-for-profit system aiming for community health excellence. It includes nine local health systems, a behavioral health network, diagnostic services, home health agencies, and 1,700 clinicians serving 1.1 million residents in Maine and New Hampshire.
