is responsible for planning, layout, and complete installation of new commercial and retrofit commercial communications equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The candidate must have extensive experience with the installation, termination, and testing of Structured Cable Plant in commercial environments. Hospital or Airport installs will be a plus. Responsibilities

Installation of video and data cable with Cat 5E, Cat 6 as well as fiber cable. Terminating and testing of horizontal copper (Cat 5, Cat 6). Termination of fiber. Termination of riser cable. Installation of patch panels. Label and test horizontal cable. Installation of backbone and riser cable (copper & fiber). Installation of interior conduit, Panduit, and Wiremold. Read and understand plans and specifications. Installation of plywood and racks. Installation of cable trays in TC, MDF, IDF. Mentor apprentices. Assist in OSP (outside plant) installations. Pulling cable 100 pair or smaller unassisted. Installing prefab assembly unassisted. Assisting in Site Grounding. Assisting in Pulling Low Voltage Cable. Assisting in pulling all sizes of Telecom Cables. Participating in Job site cleanup. Maintaining clean work area. Installing Wiremold, Sleeves, Panduit, and ENT. Installing pull and junction boxes up to 24" x 24". Assisting with Tugger setup and use for large wire and long pulls (Pulley Wheels, Capstans wheel, Chains, etc.). Assisting with calculating wire load and conduit sizing layout. Assisting with Exterior underground layout. Assisting with interior overhead and under floor raceways layouts for telecom. Assisting with grounding grid under slab. Assisting with grounding ring exterior. Assisting with splicing crimp tools and installation of Mechanical Lugs. Assisting with building grounding. Assisting with grounding service entry equipment. Assisting with bonding all metallic portions. Assisting with structural cold water grounding. Performing an Operational Risk Management Briefing for any task mastered to date. Generating or adding to an Activity Hazard Analysis for any task mastered. Contributing to the Risk Register for any defined feature of work mastered. Troubleshoot and fix Cat 5, 5E, and 6 cable problems. Terminate various manufacturers of copper termination blocks. Knowledge of all fiber termination connectors. Knowledge of all makes of fiber optics cable. Employees must provide their own hand tools. This position requires training and supervising apprentices in a team environment while facilitating cabling and electronics installation. Focus on safety, quality, production, and schedule is fundamental. Employees are expected to be committed to excellence, report to work on time, collaborate effectively, and maintain a safe work environment. M.C. Dean will provide hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety vest, which must be worn at all times on the job site. Employees are required to wear long pants, a shirt with at least 4" sleeve, and safety-toed boots. 4+ years prior experience in the commercial communications industry with a high school diploma or GED, or 3+ years of experience with an Associate degree. Must have a valid driver’s license to operate equipment (training provided). Experience in communications work including room build-out, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic termination, and interpreting as-builts. Familiarity with BlueBeam, Fluke Versiv, MS Office Word and Excel. Knowledge of BICSI guidelines for proper install and termination procedures. Abilities

Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly. Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders. Perform physical tasks like walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead. Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, hearing, and communication skills in English. Use ladders and tools safely within weight limits. Recognize problems or potential issues. Apply rules to specific problems to produce logical answers. Combine information to form general rules or conclusions. See details at close range and communicate effectively. Pay Range

USD $27.00 - USD $30.00 / Hr.
