Job Description
The Assistant Artistic Administrator supports the Artistic Administrator, VP of Artistic Planning, and Senior Producing Director by acting as the NSO concert producer and managing the department's day-to-day artistic and administrative operations. The role involves approximately 25% classical and 75% non-classical concerts.
The Assistant Artistic Administrator makes decisions and exercises discretion to prioritize assignments, working under significant pressure due to many time-sensitive projects with concurrent deadlines. An eagerness to take initiative, communicate effectively, and problem-solve with a positive attitude is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management: Manage 50% of NSO concerts each season, including artist advance, contracting, rider administration, complimentary tickets, and other requests; oversee complex administrative details from artist payment to performance reporting.
Manage production logistics daily and facilitate NSO concerts, including artist services and show duties. Serve as a critical liaison between the NSO and artists or their representatives. Maintain communication with production managers, press, marketing, digital and social media teams, special events staff, theater managers, security, and facilities to ensure smooth information flow. Build and maintain excellent relationships with artist management, hotels, travel agents, and vendors.
Act as liaison for the NSO Principal Conductor/Artistic Advisor.
Research and generate ideas for artists, themes, and concepts related to NSO programming, and assist in their implementation. Attend live performances of new works whenever possible.
Perform other duties as assigned.
