Dental Registration Technician I Department: Dental Program: Dental Reports To: Dental Manager Revision Date: 10/29/2021 Employment Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: 40 Hours/52 Weeks Preference: TERO Ordinance 2017-01, P.L. 93-638 Job Summary The Registration Technician I is a member of the Registration Desk Team and is responsible for the collection, verification, and entry for all un'ina demographic and insurance information. The accurate and timely performance of job duties of the Registration Technicians directly impacts the revenue received by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe. Essential Functions Greets all un'ina and co-workers with a smile- provides exceptional customer service with each interaction Responsible for un'ina registration, ensuring accurate capture and data entry of all un'ina updated demographic and insurance information Ensure capture of all charges for services provided at the Dena'ina Wellness Center Operate credit card machine and cash drawer Schedule future appointments at check-out Scan ID, CIB, and insurance cards into electronic registration package Hand out referral forms, intake packets, educational materials, as needed Answer multi-line phone Route calls to appropriate individual or department Schedule appointments, completing mini registration for new un'ina Ensure accurate verification of insurance and data entry into electronic registration package Reschedule No Show and Cancelled appointments Perform appointment reminder calls, include fee for service or outstanding balance, as appropriate Verification of insurance Monitor waiting room behaviors Attend all required meetings It is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work. Equipment and Tools Equipment used for job: Computer, Phone, Fax Machine, Photo Copier, Credit Card Machine, Scanner Drives KIT or Personal Vehicle: Both Travel Local In-State Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED Associates Degree in related field preferred Experience One year in a scheduling or registration function in a healthcare setting required Experience and understanding of the Revenue Cycle function within an organization Experience in insurance verification and charge collections Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of, and experience in, Electronic Health Records with specific focus on Un'ina Scheduling and Registration Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 License/Certification None Special Skills Ability to type 40 wpm, 10-key by touch Accuracy and dependability a must Exceptional Customer Service Skills Effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently Preferred Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
