We are seeking a dedicated and capable

Advanced Practice Provider

to join one of our neurosurgeons specializing in spine surgery. This APP will provide collaborative medical care and treatment with this physician. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operating room, seeing patients in the clinic setting, and working with patients during their hospitalization for surgery. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, motivated, high functioning, and seeking a role where they can make a meaningful impact and contribution to patients needing neurosurgical care. This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday. This position is located in our Greenwood office with some travel to Mooresville for a satellite clinic. This position also includes a weekend rotation for rounding on inpatients. As this role is an essential part of our team, active communication and respectful collaboration with peers is vital to success. Job Duties Evaluate and round on elective patients Monday-Friday, attending to post-operative needs and providing daily updates to the surgeon. Provide comprehensive management of hospitalized patients, including writing orders, communicating with other teams, ordering medications, daily documentation, and communicating with nursing staff. Acting as first assistant to the neurosurgeon in the operating room. Review and interpret post op radiology studies with the physician and patient. Review and discuss post op discharge needs with patients prior to discharge home/rehab. Anticipate Case management needs and discuss possible post op needs for rehab. Provide one on one time with patient/family members for discharge planning including wound care, activity level expectations, resuming medications, and post-op questions prior to discharge. Assist in completing peer to peer for patients images and prior authorizations for medications. Assist in calling patients before and after surgery to provide education on OR- preop assessment, post op expectations, home care etc Assess for preop medical clearance needs and potential discharge rehab needs Triage questions and referrals from pain management physicians within Goodman Campbell. Prepare packets for patients education for post op care Assist in determining post op pain management medications Assess and triage new referrals in clinic and assist in ordering images, injections and referral to surgeon when surgery is needed Assess and evaluate post-operative patients with office visits, complications, wounds checks and suture removal Perform and dictate physical examination and detailed history with clinic patients Assess and diagnose patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused examinations and medical histories. Triage patient phone calls making judgment calls for treatment. Assist in preparation of patients for surgery, and recognize individual surgeon and preferences Assist in closure of incision Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Ability to work independently. Ability to keep detailed records and provide written documentation in a complete, accurate, readable, and timely manner. Ability to utilize patient information to meet identified goals. In depth knowledge and understanding of health promotion and maintenance with ability to develop, implement, and communicate patient education plans. Strong Pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology knowledge. Desire to work with all types of people and work as a team member. Advanced computer knowledge. Requires knowledge of service standards and regulatory standards that govern patient care delivery and practice operations. Ability to develop and implement educational plans. Ability to counsel patients concerning medical conditions and treatment plans.

Educational and Experience Required Education : Master’s Degree in Nursing with National Certification as an Adult, Acute Care, or Family Nurse Practitioner or Masters from an accredited Physician Assistant Program and national certification from NCCPA or AAPA Licensure and Certification : Requires current unlimited Indiana State license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant Requires unlimited Indiana controlled substances registration certificate Requires unlimited DEA Current BLS Certification Preferred Experience:

Previous experience working in neurosurgery strongly preferred. Previous experience in the operating room and clinic strongly preferred. Physical Demands Able to sit for an extended period of time in focused work. Long periods of telephone and computer work. Mobility within a health clinic setting Able to stand for long hours Manual dexterity necessary Occasional lifting involving patients, as well as occasional lifting or moving of medical equipment and supplies. Able to remain calm and composed when interacting with patients and/or family members Able to pay attention to detail for long periods of time Work under time constraints. Environmental Conditions to include frequent contact with blood and other body fluids, as well as exposure to air or surface borne illnesses
