Position Summary:
The Senior Manager of IT Business Analysis and Quality Assurance is a strategic and functional leader responsible for defining, evolving, and promoting best practices for business analysis and quality assurance across IT product teams. While this role has no direct reports, it provides functional leadership and guidance to all business analysts (Client) and quality assurance (QA) professionals embedded within product teams, establishing the frameworks, standards, and tools that drive value delivery and ensure quality outcomes across complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional Leadership • Define and maintain the methodology, tools, templates, and performance expectations for business analysis and quality assurance roles across IT. • Foster a shared community of practice for Client and QAs, encouraging consistency, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all product teams. • Develop and maintain competency models and career development pathways for Client and QAs.
Project Guidance and Oversight • Serve as a subject matter expert in business analysis and QA for large, complex, or cross-cutting initiatives. • Advise product teams on requirements gathering, scope definition, test planning, and QA strategy development for critical projects. • Support strategic planning efforts by providing input on resource needs, capability gaps, and readiness for large-scale initiatives.
Governance and Quality Standards • Define and ensure adherence to quality standards and traceability across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure BA and QA effectiveness and project outcomes. • Lead reviews and audits of BA and QA deliverables for high-priority initiatives to ensure quality and completeness.
Stakeholder Engagement • Collaborate with product managers, IT leaders, and PMO colleagues to align BA and QA practices with broader organizational goals. • Act as a liaison across IT and business units to advocate for robust analysis and quality assurance in solution delivery.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred. • 8+ years of progressive experience in IT business analysis, quality assurance, or project delivery, including at least 3 years in a leadership or mentorship capacity. • Strong working knowledge of modern SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, or hybrid models). • Experience guiding matrixed or indirect teams and influencing without authority. • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to lead change, standardize practices, and drive operational improvements.
Preferred Certifications: • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), SAFe Agilist, or equivalent Agile certifications • ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
