Goodlettsville Pediatrics , a Division of Summit Medical Group, is seeking a

Pediatric Phlebotomist / Medical Assistant

to join their in-office clinical laboratory.

This is a full-time opportunity.

Our Pediatric CLIA Certified In-Office Lab performs point-of-care testing and diagnostic lab tests to assess a child's health and diagnose potential medical conditions.

Responsibilities: (List does not include all duties assigned)

• Performs venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on pediatric patients based upon guidelines of ordered test.

• Must be comfortable with difficult blood draws.

• Prepares, organizes, and labels specimens accurately meeting the standards of set processes.

• Performs repeat Newborn Screening tests when necessary.

• Performs point-of-care testing that may include urine analysis, molecular strep & flu testing, fecal occult blood, pregnancy tests, with in-house CBC testing.

• Experience with and working knowledge of CLIA guidelines, processes, and protocols.

• Ability to build rapport with patients and families.

• Aids in the care of the patient prior to, during, and after lab work.

• Maintains stocked, neat, and clean examination rooms and common work areas daily.

• Adheres to established policies and procedures including OSHA guidelines and the Corporate Compliance Program.

• Perform duties assigned in a professional manner following established policies and procedures while showing courteous and cooperative manner to co-workers, management, and public.

• Performs related duties assigned by Lab Director, Site Administrator, physician, or administrative staff.

• Maintains strictest confidentiality.

• When available and necessary, can help a floor-nurse in bringing back and/or working-up patients when needed.

• Ability to accurately perform vitals and clinical intake on patients.

• Actively takes part in site-level Quality Improvement Activities. Each employee will contribute to the continual evaluation site performance as well as the implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients.

Education: High School Diploma - required

Phlebotomy Certificate (including hands-on classes) - required

Experience: Minimum two years pediatric (in-practice lab) experience - required.
