SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Office Manager incumbent provides clerical administrative, and or clinical job duties for the clinical facility.
REQUIREMENTS
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet clients/patients at reception desk or counter; assist them in completing necessary documents and applications. Obtain medical history and chief complaint. Maintain medical charts and schedule appointments for staff. Perform routine medical data clerical tasks. Verify patient's health insurance coverage. Record information for each patient encounter such as medical procedure and diagnostic tests performed by physician or licensed personnel. Prepare patients for examination. Perform routine clinical procedures Provide feedback, verbally and in writing, to licensed professional staff regarding client needs and community responses to health services and programs Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential. Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing supply requisitions verifying receipt. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs Serves and protects the medical practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. Document patient's height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure Report changes in patient's physical status to the lead provider on duty. Review and record medical history including current medications. Perform phlebotomy and basic laboratory tests; prepare specimens for transport to laboratory. Administer injections. Performs other duties as requested. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Medical Assistant Certificate preferred SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
Must be familiar with EHR/EMR system. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Minimum of 6 months of experience is preferred Spanish bilingual is a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Body Positions: Sitting and standing for prolonged periods. Body Movements: Arm and hand dexterity. Body Senses: Must have command of close and distant sight, color perception and hearing. Strength: Ability to lift and move up to 25-pounds. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work in an office, where the climate is controlled Occasional travel between medical groups and/or hospitals when necessary. 0-25 % of the time. OSHA exposure category: I Category I - Position includes tasks that involve exposure to Blood borne Pathogens. Category II - Position includes tasks that do not have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, however employment may require unplanned Category I tasks. Category III - Positions includes tasks that do not involve exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. This position would not be required to perform Category I tasks.
