We offer clients high quality service and superior R&D partnerships.Aragen's Preclinical Research Services Division has an opening for a Histology technician. This hands-on role will provide technical histology support for clients' studies as well as internal model development. This will involve the management of the histology lab, writing SOPs, developing protocols, generating good quality histology data (multiple stains, IHC). Presently, this is a non-GLP program with expectations of becoming GLP in near future.Essential FunctionsStandard histology tasks such as tissue processing, embedding, section, and H&E staining on FFPE and frozen tissues from animal models(rodents). Working with clinical specimens could be a possibility soon. Experience in IHC is also preferred. Technical quality control experience is required, especially with stained slides. Problem-solving skills will be needed to work through the establishment of new techniques. Management of histology lab by ensuring instruments are maintained as per manufacturer's recommendations and work with Aragen's Quality team to keep the instruments calibrated. With the team, maintain inventory of tissues, samples, slides as per respective project requirements. Establish technical processes and develop protocols appropriate to the project. Interact with external pathologists and validate reports. Must be able to work in a high-paced environment. Work and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Exercise excellent judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.RequirementsRequirements•5+ years of experience in histology techniques, including trimming, processing, embedding, microtomy/cryotomy, special staining, and immunohistochemistry•Demonstrate an understanding of preclinical disease models for histology related programs•Ability to multi-task and meet timelines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment•Proficient in imaging modalities, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)•Degree in Biological Sciences, Certification preferred•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively between technical teams and clients•Self-motivated individual with great attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlinesAragen Bioscience provides a stimulating work environment in which talented employees expand their technical skills and scientific knowledge and contribute directly to the ongoing success of the organization.
