Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to support our Pre-operative, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurses and surgical team in the Operating Room (OR). This position plays a key role in maintaining smooth clinical workflows by assisting with patient care, preparing surgical environments, and supporting the nursing and surgical staff before, during, and after procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with pre-operative preparation, testing, and documentation.
· Support OR teams by preparing rooms, gathering necessary instruments and supplies, and ensuring surgical areas are clean and stocked.
· Transport patients safely to and from pre-op, OR, and PACU.
· Assist PACU nurses with patient monitoring, comfort, and post-operative care.
· Provide clerical support such as documenting patient vitals, updating charts, and assisting with supply ordering.
· Monitor inventory of medical supplies and assist in restocking as needed.
· Clean and disinfect non-sterile equipment and work areas according to infection control standards.
· Serve as a communication liaison between nursing staff, surgeons, and other departments as directed.
· Assist with dressing changes, positioning patients, and other delegated clinical tasks within scope of certification.
· Provide patient-centered care in a professional and empathetic manner.
· Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs.
· Assist SPD with routine cleaning and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
· Oversee and ensure equipment safety compliance
· Conduct and uphold routine equipment safety inspections
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program.
· Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) Required.
· Current BLS certification is strongly preferred.
· Previous experience in a surgical or outpatient surgery center setting is strongly preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
· Strong understanding of aseptic technique and patient safety protocols.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize in a clinical setting.
· Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail.
