NuCara LTC is a closed door long-term care pharmacy located in Iowa City, IA. We specialize in packaging and distributing medications to nursing homes, assisted living facilities and group homes in Eastern Iowa. Duties include entering new prescriptions and refilling current orders. Applicant will answer phone calls and should be able to speak courteously with nurses, doctors and patients. We offer a relaxed environment with lots of potential for growth.As we continue to grow we are in need of more members of our elite team. We are currently looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) certified pharmacy technician to join our healthcare team. Certification preferred but not required. If not certified, applicant must pass pharmacy technician certification test within a year of hire date. We are willing to train the right person.The role of the pharmacy technician is to work under the direction of a pharmacist and to be responsible for medications and medical materials in the pharmacy. You will be responsible for inputting medication orders, packaging and preparing medications for dispensing, and assisting the pharmacist perform technical functions. Such functions may include measuring, counting, labeling, record keeping, and communicating with patients and other healthcare professionals.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnter prescription orders into the computerCreate a profile of the patient's health and insurance information in the computer or update the patient's profileAssist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with local, state, federal, and Company regulationsCommunicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claimsComplete weekly distribution center medication orders, place orders on shelves, and verify all associated paperworkAssist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptionPrepare the pharmacy inventoryScreen telephone calls for the pharmacistCommunicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorizationCompound oral solutions, ointments, and creamsPrepackage bulk medicationsFill bottles with prescribed medications and type and affix labelsPrice and file prescriptions that have been filledReceive written, oral, faxed, or electronic prescriptions or refill requests and verify that the information is complete and accurateSupply and monitor robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers, and label the containersAnswer telephones, responding to questions or requests.Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computersClean, help maintain equipment and work areasMaintain proper storage and security conditions for drugsNationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferredFull-time positions offer competitive wages and a benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, paid holidays and PTO.Employment contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen and background check.NuCara LTC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages minorities, females, individuals with disabilities and protected veterans to apply.
