Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for programming, leadership development, student engagement, and club/organization advising that supports marginalized students, specifically increasing their sense of belonging within the University. The Program Coordinator will also be a key campus partner who participates in committee work, annual events, training & development. Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitate the National Student Exchange Program. Serve as an advisor of the International Student Association and assist the group in planning their activities. Coordinate and implement activities for Multicultural Affairs events including First Bulldog Week, United Against Hate Week, International Women's Day, International Education Week, National Transfer Student Week, and other general programs. Maintains accurate records of Multicultural Affairs events including event proposals, budgets, contacts, contracts, media/publicity, and evaluations. Manage internal and external marketing, communication. and social media for the department Serve as a member of the Student Orientation and Registration Committee Assist with student move-in weekend, with intention of representing Multicultural Affairs Assist with planning the Student Intercultural/Unity Conference in conjunction with the Executive Director. Maintains and regularly publishes an up-to-date calendar of department activities and events that is made readily available to AAMU and Madison County communities. Represents the Multicultural Affairs office at recruitment events on campus and in the community as needed. Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees. Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to act should a health or safety emergency occur. Serve on University committees as appointed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):
Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred One to three years related work experience; preferably in a university setting Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to the university mission and purpose; teaching and learning; high academic standards; and student success Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as needed Supplemental Information
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications (with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint presentation) Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with students, employees and the public Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population Ability to efficiently multi-task and conduct/complete independent work assignments Demonstrated excellent oral and written interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and the general public
