ROLE SUMMARY The Sr. Database Administrator maintains responsibility for the design, implementation, maintenance, and repair of organizational database systems. Ensures that the underlying technologies provide users with flexibility in managing, accessing, retrieval, sharing, and configuration of the data managed by organizational database systems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Defines and implements controls required to verify data integrity. • Defines and implements access and security controls to protect corporate data and database systems availability. • Monitors databases and implements changes ensuring the performance, stability, and availability of database systems. • Contributes to efforts established to meet development and testing objectives. • Performs role of subject matter expert to programmers and engineers in their efforts to efficiently utilize database systems. • Leads efforts supporting the implementation and upgrade of database systems. • Investigates and resolves problems related to database systems. • Performs as senior applications database administrator with the ability to manage application infrastructure components. • Provides 24/7 production support as required. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Creates and executes development plans across assigned projects and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. • Implements and monitors system backups and performs periodic restoration testing. • Maintains installation standards of systems development and documentation. • Ensures the ongoing availability and integrity of company database systems. • Assists in planning the continuity and recovery of a primary business function following the loss of service resulting from a major incident. • Provides information to project managers regarding status of development efforts or system outages. • Ensures the integrity of computer systems through the implementation of approved contingency measures and the monitoring of use. • Conducts testing of database systems and equipment, using appropriate procedures to assess performance. • Maintains responsibility for database software installation, cloning, and patching for assigned projects. REQUIRED SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent working knowledge of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, versions 12-19+ and working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, version 2016 and higher. • Capability to work independently; a self-starter who performs initiatives that provide solutions for business requirements. • Excellent communicator with ability to multi-task and prioritize work. • Ability to quickly evaluate complex problems and implement effective solutions. • Proficient in SQL with ability to support database management systems (Oracle, DB, MSSQL, etc.) and SQL tuning procedures. • A background in database administration that includes: administration, development, design, backup and restoration, scalability, capacity, data migration, and reporting. • Must work well in a team environment PREFERRED SKILLS • Experience with Microsoft Azure and PostgreSQL a plus. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS Degree with 4 to 6 years of enterprise networking experience. Relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree.
